Support Baker

Baker is grateful for your continued support of our students, faculty, staff, and community.

Since its inception, the Baker Demonstration School has been dedicated to “charting new ways for better educating the individual as a member of a changing and developing society, and to prepare children for living together in democracy” (E.Harrison).

Today, we continue striving towards this goal. Every day, we work tirelessly to provide a research-based, academically vigorous, innovative program that empowers students to be active participants in their own education, foster a deep, relevant, and authentic love of learning, that sets every child up for success in high school, university, and an ever-evolving world. Every day, we strive to provide our students with meaningful, relevant, and authentic opportunities to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.

Today, our mission is more critical than ever before.

With your generosity, Baker is poised to continue innovating and adapting to whatever challenges arise in our ever-changing world. Your gifts are tax deductible and directly support Baker’s commitment to championing an exemplary progressive education, nurturing and empowering students to make courageous choices, value differences, and become lifelong learners.

No matter the size, a gift will make both an immediate and long-lasting impact on the student experience at Baker Demonstration School. All gifts to the Baker Demonstration School are tax-deductible and acknowledged in the Annual Report by giving level.

FAQ

Why is giving important?

  • Giving supports the mission driven work of this community, and ensures that we are delivering a program that will create a positive and long-lasting impact in the life of your child, and in the world. Not only does your gift allow us to fund ongoing operations and invest in new programming for our students, it helps us grow our endowment with the goal of ensuring a bright and sustainable future.
  • Please visit Ways to Give for more information on how to participate.

Why not just raise tuition to cover the full cost of a Baker education?

  • The Board of Trustees is committed to keeping tuition at a competitive level; increasing revenue through Annual Giving allows our school to keep tuition increases as minimal as possible, and therefore, more accessible to more families.
  • The gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating each student is about $10,661
  • Unlike tuition, Annual Giving donations are tax-deductible.

How much should I give?

  • Please support Annual Giving at the level that is meaningful to you. We encourage 100% participation from the Baker Demonstration School community. All donors to the school are recognized in our Annual Report.
  • You can give online. Monthly recurring gifts are available. To learn more about ways to give, click here.
  • Many employers will match charitable donations. Please check with your employer or our Corporate Matching Lookup on our website.

What are the goals of Baker’s financial aid program?

Baker’s financial aid program seeks to remove financial barriers for students who contribute to and benefit from a Baker education. Baker’s financial aid program serves to bolster the Schools’ mission to honor diversity in all its forms. Increasing financial aid resources for current and entering students allows us to change the lives of future Baker alumni and strengthen our commitment to cultivating and nurturing a diverse and inclusive community.

What would a substantially larger endowment do for Baker?

Endowment income has historically been a stabilizing force in the operation of education institutions as it is less variable relative to other revenue streams and is available in perpetuity. At Baker, revenue from our endowment creates a permanent source of funding for ongoing priorities and provides critical support for our financial aid program, facilities maintenance, and more.
