What's Your Legacy?

Each one of us has a story of how Baker has impacted our lives, our students, and/or our communities in a meaningful way. For many families, Baker has been more than just a school; it’s been a foundation for their children’s future success and well-being, providing them with the tools and skills they need to thrive in a complex world.

Supporting Baker Demonstration School with major gifts and in your estate planning is a way to give back, ensuring that our mission endures for future generations. There’s no better time to share your story and give a lasting gift to Baker.

Endowment

By contributing to Baker Demonstration School’s endowment, you can help build a stable, enduring source of funds that supports the school’s mission now and for generations to come.

Baker’s endowment provides a financial foundation that helps shield the school from economic fluctuations, enhances program innovation and stability, and allows form strategic investments in new opportunities for learning, growth, and the advancement of our mission. We are grateful for our generous donors who have supported Baker through their endowment gifts. Their generosity has ensured Baker’s continued growth and success, now and into the future.

An endowment gift can be a one-time, one-person contribution or it can be an ongoing fund to which many can contribute.

Planned Giving

Planned giving options such as bequests and charitable trusts allows our donors to maximize their giving and the impact on future generations while minimizing their tax liability. They allow our donors to make a significant gift to Baker while still meeting personal financial goals and obligations.

There are a variety ways to structure your gift, including but not limited to:

  1. Bequests – By including Baker in your will or trust, you can support Baker’s future without affecting your current financial situation
  2. Charitable Trusts – These gifts also offer potential tax advantages and flexible planning options
  3. Beneficiary Designations – You can designate Baker as a beneficiary on retirement accounts or life insurance policies. This option allows you to pass on assets tax-free to Baker while ensuring you are supporting your personal and philanthropic goals
  4. Real Estate and Property Gifts – These gifts can provide substantial tax benefits, which can be sold or used to support the school’s mission
  5. Donor-Advised Funds – If you have a DAF, you can direct funds to Baker, benefiting from the flexibility in timing and the ability to distribute grants over time.

Consult your attorney or financial advisor to explore what type of planned gift is best for your and your family.

    FAQs

    Why is giving important?

Giving supports the mission driven work of this community, and ensures that we are delivering a program that will create a positive and long-lasting impact in the life of your child, and in the world. Not only does your gift allow us to fund ongoing operations and invest in new programming for our students, it helps us grow our endowment with the goal of ensuring a bright and sustainable future.

Please visit Ways to Give for more information on how to participate.

Why not just raise tuition to cover the full cost of a Baker education?

The Board of Trustees is committed to keeping tuition at a competitive level; increasing revenue through Annual Giving allows our school to keep tuition increases as minimal as possible, and therefore, more accessible to more families.

The gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating each student is about $10,661.

Unlike tuition, Annual Giving donations are tax-deductible.

    How much should I give?

Please support Annual Giving at the level that is meaningful to you. We encourage 100% participation from the Baker Demonstration School community. All donors to the school are recognized in our Annual Report.

You can give online. Monthly recurring gifts are available. To learn more about ways to give, click here.

Many employers will match charitable donations. Please check with your employer or our Corporate Matching Lookup on our website.

What are the goals of Baker's financial aid program?

Baker’s financial aid program seeks to remove financial barriers for students who contribute to and benefit from a Baker education. Baker’s financial aid program serves to bolster the Schools’ mission to honor diversity in all its forms. Increasing financial aid resources for current and entering students allows us to change the lives of future Baker alumni and strengthen our commitment to cultivating and nurturing a diverse and inclusive community.

What would a substantially larger endowment do for Baker?

Endowment income has historically been a stabilizing force in the operation of education institutions as it is less variable relative to other revenue streams and is available in perpetuity. At Baker, revenue from our endowment creates a permanent source of funding for ongoing priorities and provides critical support for our financial aid program, facilities maintenance, and more.
