faculty & Staff
For over 100 years
Baker faculty and staff members have been experts in authentic progressive education and experiential curriculum.
Baker faculty facilitates dynamic classroom environments that nurture the intellectual, social, and emotional lives of young children and early adolescents. With academic excellence at the core of learning, our hands-on, experiential curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, creation and collaboration. Baker faculty values teaching the individual learner and honoring diversity.
Head of School Letter
It is a privilege to serve as Head of School at Baker Demonstration School. From my earliest conversations with members of the Baker community, it was clear that this is a special place—one defined by curiosity, creativity, and a deep commitment to the whole child. Students, families, faculty, staff, and alumni all play an important role in shaping the Baker experience.
Baker has a long tradition of progressive education rooted in respect for children and the belief that learning happens best through experience—what we often call “learning by doing.” Each day, I am inspired by the way our students learn through exploration, collaboration, and discovery, guided by extraordinary teachers who know and care for them as individuals. Our teachers design experiences that encourage children to think deeply, work together, and develop their voice as learners. This work is grounded in a research-based approach to challenge and assessment. Rather than using traditional grades, we focus on deep understanding, critical thinking, and meaningful growth for each student.
My hope for Baker is that we continue to build on that tradition—support great teaching, strengthen our community, and ensure that every student leaves Baker with a strong sense of self, a love of learning, and optimism for the future. Together, we will continue building a school where children are academically challenged, feel known, supported, and are on a pathway to grow into thoughtful, confident learners and leaders.
I’m grateful to be a part of this community and look forward to meeting new, current, and alumni families and hearing your stories of Baker and your hopes for the school’s future. You are an essential part of what makes Baker so special, and I look forward to continuing this work together.
