Teaching and Learning at Baker

Best practices vary in every industry in which we work. However, best practices in education allow students to become lifelong learners. Our curriculum challenges students but also teaches students that core disciplines are found in special subject areas and vice versa. Learning does not start at 8:30am and end at 3:15pm for Baker students. They understand the value of taking knowledge from their day and applying it beyond Baker walls. These higher-order thinking skills allow Baker students to transition to high school with confidence because they have taken ownership for their personal and academic success and have been prepared for academic competition and emotional growth.

A best practices classroom has less teacher lecturing and more team-teaching, less emphasis on rote memorization of facts and figures and more emphasis on higher-order thinking skills, and less tracking into ability groups and more attention to individual learning needs and styles.
